EPL: Man Utd interview five managers to replace Solskjaer

News

Manchester United have spoken to at least five managers as they seek Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s replacement.

Solskjaer was fired after a 4-1 defeat at newly-promoted Watford.

It means United are on a poor run of five defeats from seven league outings.

Michael Carrick, a former player and an assistant to Solskjaer, has been installed as temporary manager and oversaw the 2-0 win at Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and managing director Richard Arnold chose not to travel to Spain for the game, instead interviewing candidates for the role.

Some of the coaches they have spoken to include former Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, Ralf Rangnick who is currently the head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, ex-Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre, former Lyon coach Rudi Garcia and Paulo Fonseca who was replaced at Roma by Jose Mourinho
